OK maybe we can’t prove it yet but there’s something fishy going on and this wouldn’t be the first time the sugar industry tried to trick us.

Refined sugar is bad, right? It leads to all kinds of health problems. Hundreds and hundreds of studies over decades confirms this. So why, over the past year, is sugar being secretly and insidiously rebranded as an “all natural” ingredient that should be loved and embraced? Creators all over instagram and tiktok are treating diet soda like the ebola virus and sugar like some home-grown, all natural, farmers-market style ingredient that is the backbone of everything wholesome in this great country of ours.

It’s not! Refined sugar is nearly as addictive and harmful as alcohol when consumed regularly. It’s linked to insulin resistance, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and obesity.

The sugar industry has known this for decades. That’s why as early as the 1960’s the sugar industry started funding bias research and media misinformation campaigns that vilified fat as the dietary enemy.
